ABOUT US

Kingston Sales and Service has a rich history that dates back to 1958 when it was built by Max Ibbott on Agnes Street, which is now the current location of LC Tyres.

Len Lampit took over ownership in 1962 and continued repairing vehicles, machinery, and selling Morris cars and tractors. In 1972, the business underwent a name change to Kingston Sales and Service and later began selling new Chrysler and Mitsubishi cars and second-hand vehicles. In 2007, the existing premises were sold, and a new workshop was constructed by Len's son Garry at our current location. Kingston Sales and Service was owned by two additional local operators before we acquired the business on May 3, 2021.

Since then, we have been busy building relationships with suppliers and investing in training and equipment to expand our knowledge base and capabilities as a first-choice service provider.

As a Repco Authorised Service Centre, we look forward to servicing you and providing the best possible service to our valued customers.

In October 2023, we commenced our partnership with Yamaha Motor Company allowing us to provide our customers with additional services. In addition to Yamaha Finance and Insurance, we offer servicing, repairs and maintenance to all Yamaha Outboard Motors, and boating apparel & accessories. We’re extremely proud to be your locally owned and operated Yamaha Marine Dealership and we look forward to continuing to provide great service to our customers.

Matt

OWNER

Matts mechanical life started young in the Navy as a marine engineer. After leaving the Navy, he worked in heavy truck and trailer workshops as a trailer mechanic who went on to drive trucks after deciding it was better than fix them and did so for several years. During this time Matt worked in other areas due to seasonal work before taking on an adult apprenticeship as a mechanic. On completion of the trade where Matt won apprentice of the year in all years, Matt commenced employment with the local council as the mechanic. Servicing and repairing all manner of road construction equipment and light vehicles, Matt spent a lot of time working on the council’s dredge, which had been poorly maintained for some time. Matt then learnt to operate the dredge and run the dredging program, eventually leaving for the Pilbara in Western Australia to start a position in Port Hedland as a Dredging Superintendent. Matt returned to SA in early 2021, buying Kingston Sales and Service on May 3rd. Matt enjoys fishing, camping, gardening, and travelling when time permits.

Madi

3RD YEAR APPRENTICE

Madi left school and started work in a service station in Robe, selling car parts, fishing, and camping gear. While Madi’s dad was in WA working she had to work out how to fix her own cars, successfully doing so on many occasions. Madi developed a keen interest in all things mechanical and took the opportunity to start an apprenticeship when Matt bought Kingston Sales and Service. While developing her mechanical skills and knowledge, Madi also handles much of the bookings, parts ordering, and invoicing. In Madi’s spare time she enjoys fishing and camping.
